A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday near Vita Chowrangi in Korangi Industrial Area, where the roof of a leather factory collapsed, resulting in the death of a teenage worker and injuries to three others.

According to police, the roof of a room at the factory made of cement tiles and already in a deteriorated condition suddenly fell while repair work was underway. A large pile of debris on the rooftop further contributed to the collapse when a central support beam snapped.

Rescue teams from welfare organisations and police personnel reached the scene promptly after being informed about the incident. Bystanders gathered at the site were moved back by police to allow rescue operations to proceed.

The injured were retrieved from under the rubble and rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. A 16-year-old worker, Faraz, a resident of Bilal Colony in Korangi and originally from Kohat, died on the spot. He had been working at the factory for some time. The body of the deceased was handed over to his family after legal formalities. The three other injured individuals sustained minor injuries. According to police, the factory roof that collapsed was under ongoing maintenance due to its poor condition.
