Sky Warrior causes major upset at LRC
LAHORE: Lahore Race Club’s second day Summer meeting delivered surprises with outsiders dominating evening card Sunday night. The biggest shock was witnessed when Sky Warrior, dismissed at longer odds by most observers, powered up the rail in devastating fashion to claim victory in the Class-VII Division-V&VII event.
Thuse second day of Lahore Race Club’s Summer Meeting 2025 produced a series of stunning upsets, with long shot winners and surprise placings kept the packed crowd on their feet throughout the five-race programme.
The evening’s action demonstrated once again that form guides are merely suggestions when thoroughbreds take to the track. The opening maiden race saw pre-race favourite Noon Princess fail to deliver on her stretch potential, finishing a disappointing third as Leo Star flew to the front to capture victory ahead of interesting outsider Usman’s Love who ran his heart out to claim second place. The result immediately set the tone for an evening where predictions would prove unreliable.
The second contest delivered the night’s biggest shock when Sky Warrior, dismissed at longer odds by most observers, powered up the rail in devastating fashion to claim victory in the Class-VII Division-V&VII event.
Thunder Man, who had been tipped for place contention, managed to hold second place, while the heavily-backed Tango To Fire could only manage third after a lacklustre performance that left supporters stunned.
Race three continued the theme of surprises when Pocket Power, an unknown quantity at 2/1 odds, powered home to victory in emphatic style. The winner defeated intriguing outsider selection Zaman Sahib, who ran a creditable second, while Absolutely Not, despite being positioned favorably for place honors in pre-race analysis, had to settle for third place.
The penultimate contest saw pre-race predictions prove more accurate as Luckvir, identified as the leading contender, fought back gamely to secure victory. However, the placings again defied expectations with Mera Gondal producing a surprise second-place finish, while Thunder Boy, well-suited for place honors according to form students, managed to claim third.
