Metro train a trendsetter: CM
Thanks China for releasing second installment of funds

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has thanked Chinese leadership, government and Chairman of Exim Bank for releasing second installment of funds for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project.
He said that provision of funds by China for this public welfare project reflected the confidence of the Chinese leadership in Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Punjab government. He expressed gratitude to the Chinese government, leadership and the people of China for releasing second installment of funds for Lahore orange line metro train after the first installment of Rs33 billion. The chief minister said that by describing Lahore orange line metro train as a gift for Pakistan, the Chinese Prime Minister expressed his deep love for the people of the country.
Meanwhile, talking to elected representatives of various districts, Shahbaz Sharif said that high standard work was being carried out speedily on metro train project and a new example had been set by saving billions of rupees of public money in the implementation of the project. He said metro train project would prove to be a trendsetter. He said that despite propaganda by some political elements against train project, Chinese leadership had proved its friendship with Pakistan by providing more funds for the project.
The chief minister said orange line metro train project was a shining example of Pak-China friendship and a new era of friendly relations between the two countries would begin with the completion of the project. He said that release of funds by China for metro train was a lesson for those elements who had been criticising this project. He said metro train was a unique project in the country’s history and billions of rupees of the poor had been saved on this project. He said those opposing this splendid project were in fact opposing prosperity of the people.
He said people had a right over air-conditioned and comfortable transport and the Punjab government was ensuring this right through masterpieces like metro bus service and metro train. He said that provision of modern and safe transport facilities of international standard to the citizens was among the government priorities and billions of rupees were being spent for this purpose. He said metro train project had been started to provide speedy transport facility to citizens and the project was unprecedented in the history of the country.
Shahbaz Sharif said orange train project would revolutionise transport system and change transport culture.
The parliamentarians congratulated the chief minister on the release of second installment of funds for metro train project and said this splendid project would raise the living standard of the people. Those who called on the chief minister included Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Shah, Mian Imtiaz Ahmed, Nasir Iqbal Bosal and Shafqat Mehmood. Manshaullah Butt MPA was also present on the occasion.
Jhagra: Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here Friday.
Overall situation of the country, development projects and measures for overcoming energy crisis were discussed in the meeting.
According to a handout, talking to KP Governor, the chief minister said that Pakistan was moving towards progress and prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said sincere efforts for resolving energy problem would prove fruitful.
Shahbaz Sharif said the PML-N government was fulfilling the promises made to the people. He said political and military leadership as well as the whole nation was united to root out terrorists. The CM said Pakistan today is more peaceful and secure.
