IGP complaint centre redresses 59,000 grievances

LAHORE:IGP Complaint Centre 1787 is effectively ensuring the timely redressal of public complaints and grievances. Sharing details, the spokesperson of Punjab police said that more than 59,000 complaints received at the 1787 Complaint Centre have been resolved so far this year.

Over 25,000 complaints related to registration of cases and more than 17,000 complaints regarding delayed investigations have been resolved. More than 3,000 complaints related to police services and over 500 complaints regarding departmental matters and others were also resolved.

Similarly, more than 3,600 complaints regarding arrest of accused, over 6,900 related to recovery, and more than 3,100 complaints regarding faulty investigation were resolved. More than 1,700 complaints regarding cancellation of false cases and 930 related to change of investigation were also addressed. Through redressal via 1787, a total of 634 abductees have been recovered.

IG Dr Usman Anwar said that complainants should feel free to contact the 1787 Complaint Centre in case of any complaint against police personnel. He added that complaints received from citizens are resolved as per SOPs within the prescribed timeline. Monitoring has been further enhanced to improve the performance of the IGP Complaint Centre 1787. The IG has directed all DPOs to personally monitor the resolution of complaints received on the 1787 Complaint System for their immediate redressal.
