PIA expands MRO business with Air Karachi maintenance deal
KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines signed a maintenance agreement with private carrier Air Karachi, said a statement on Wednesday. This is complements PIA’s efforts to monetise its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities and diversify revenue streams.
The agreement, signed at PIA’s head office in Karachi, enables Air Karachi to obtain engineering and MRO services from the national carrier. It was formalised by PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat, alongside Air Karachi Chairman Hanif Gohar and CEO AVM (r) Imran Majid.
Senior executives from both airlines attended the signing ceremony. With certified MRO capabilities in place, PIA aims to expand its engineering division’s offerings to third-party clients in the aviation sector. The national carrier views this partnership as part of its broader strategy to improve financial performance through auxiliary business lines.Air Karachi is a newly established private airline formed in collaboration with the local business community.
