Child abuse is reportedly increasing in our society. An NGO that works on empowering children against abuse estimates that between 15 and 20 percent of girls and boys from all socio-economic group in Pakistan are exposed to sexual harassment and abuse before they turn 18.
Similarly, a report published in March 2016 by Sahil, an NGO advocating against child sexual abuse, has concluded that there has been a consistent increase in abuse over the past five years. The report further claims that an average of 10 children is sexually abused daily, and asserts that cases have increased by a staggering seven percent in the past year. The state needs to provide adequate psychplogical therapy to children who have been abused.
