Three cops injured as they attempt to stop fleeing water tanker
A tanker driver attempted to abduct a traffic policeman near Malik Chandio Chowk in the Manghopir area of District West, Karachi, on Wednesday.
The suspect tried to flee with the abducted traffic policeman, Tilak Raj, after refusing to stop at a police checkpoint. A police mobile nearby, however, responded promptly to officers’ call for help and pursued the fleeing tanker. During the chase, a group of individuals accompanying the tanker driver attacked the police team using sticks and stones, resulting in injuries to three constables. The injured cops have been identified as Razzaq, Yaqoob and Owais.
They were immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment. A heavy contingent of police reached the area after getting information about the incident and took the situation into control. Further investigations are under way.
