Minister visits PSO to push sector reform
KARACHI: Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik visited the headquarters of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) on Thursday, part of a broader government effort to engage key stakeholders and improve operational efficiency in the country’s energy sector.
The minister was accompanied by Additional Secretary Zafar Abbas and Director to the Minister Waqas Ahmed Barlas. He was received by PSO’s officiating Managing Director Abdus Sami and senior leadership including Chief Strategy Officer Mohsin Ali Mangi and CFO Gulzar Khoja. Chairman of the PSO Board Asif Baigmohamed, also participated in discussions.
Malik reviewed the company’s performance and supply chain resilience, while being briefed on PSO’s automation initiatives and diversification plans into renewables and emerging energy technologies. He commended PSO’s role in ensuring a stable fuel supply and reiterated the government’s commitment to reliable and affordable energy access.
“The government is committed to steering the energy sector toward greater resilience, sustainability, and innovation,” Malik said. “Improving fuel quality, cutting emissions, and enabling the clean energy transition are central to this strategy.”
