Rawalpindi:Parents in Rawalpindi and Islamabad have appealed to higher authorities to close schools due to the severe heatwave, citing concerns for students' health. Many students have already fallen ill, experiencing nosebleeds, vomiting, and unconsciousness. Parents have also requested that school timings be adjusted to 7:00 am to 11:30 am until the start of summer vacations.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert, predicting that the heatwave will persist throughout the current week. A high-pressure system is expected to dominate the upper atmosphere, leading to temperatures 4-6°C above normal in southern regions and 5-7°C above normal in upper regions, including Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
