PESHAWAR: An invigilator deployed at Government College Peshawar was caught red-handed leaking an intermediate examination paper via WhatsApp shortly after the paper was distributed, prompting immediate suspension, lifelong disqualification from board duties and initiation of departmental proceedings.

The incident took place under the supervision of Commissioner Peshawar Division and Chairman of the Peshawar Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Riaz Khan Mahsud. The invigilator was found transmitting the question paper through a mobile device at 9:05am and was apprehended on the spot through the Board’s real-time digital surveillance system.

Acting promptly, Riaz Mahsud ordered the invigilator’s immediate suspension and directed that disciplinary proceedings be initiated under the E&D Rules. The official has also been permanently barred from performing any future board related duties. The case has been forwarded to the Elementary and Secondary Education Department with instructions to carry out a formal departmental inquiry and consider termination from service.

The Peshawar Board has recently adopted a modern examination monitoring mechanism, including barcoded question papers and digital tracking, to prevent leaks and ensure transparency. The system instantly alerts board authorities to any attempt to circulate exam content via electronic devices, enabling swift intervention.

In this case, the mobile phone used in the violation was confiscated on site, and an inquiry is currently underway.“There will be no compromise on the integrity of the examination system,” said Riaz Mahsud. “Those involved in any form of malpractice, including paper leaks, will face strict legal and departmental action without exception.”
