Students showcase skills at AWKUM expo
MARDAN: Students got an opportunity to showcase their skills and were provided with an opportunity to gain practical experience at an expo arranged at the Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan. “Idea Competition and National Expo” was arranged by the Department of Computer Science and, Department of ORIC. It focused on various fields such as Graphics Designing, Artificial Intelligence, Software Programming, and Cyber Security.
The chief guest was Director General Science and Technology and IT Sajid Hussain Shah. In his address, he said that such competitions play an important role in enhancing the creativity of the youth and encouraging the use of modern technologies.
He urged the youth to be proactive in providing innovative ideas and solutions while bracing for modern challenges. In addition, he added, such events not only increase the interest of the students but also provide them with practical experience and an opportunity to learn new skills. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zahir Shah said the event provided a wonderful opportunity to highlight the creative thinking of the students and their skills in the field of technology. The organisers said the competition aimed to highlight the creativity of the youth and create awareness about modern technologies. Students from various educational institutions participated in the event, which created an atmosphere of healthy competition.
Dean Faculty of Numerical Sciences, Professor Dr Sher Afzal said such competitions not only enhanced their skills but also prepared them for future challenges. As a result of these competitions, students demonstrated their creativity through new ideas and innovations. A large number of students from Women University Mardan, Engineering University Mardan Postgraduate College and other institutions participated in the competitions.
ORIC Director Dr Tariq Mahmood, Chairman Department of Computer Science, Dr Nadeem Iqbal, Professor Dr Aurangzeb and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Cash prizes and shields were distributed among the excelling students. It is worth mentioning that the competition and expo were organized in collaboration with Mardan Youth. District Officer of Mardan Youth Usman was also present on the occasion.
