Wasa Punjab carves out strategy to deal with any emergency

LAHORE:Wasa Punjab has prepared comprehensive strategy to deal with emergency situation in view of Pak-India ongoing tension.

In this regard, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Wasa Punjab Director General Tayyab Farid on Thursday in which Managing Directors of Wasa Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Multan and Faisalabad participated.

The aim of the meeting was to formulate an emergency strategy to maintain water supply and drainage system across the province in view of ongoing Pak-India tension.

The meeting reviewed immediate and effective measures regarding possible emergency situations in different cities. All MDs gave a briefing on their respective preparations and informed about their strategies to deal with the challenges faced in the emergency situation.

Wasa Punjab DG directed that all machinery should be kept fully functional and operational. Wasa offices across the province should keep their generators and water tankers on standby. In addition, staff attendance in 24/7 shifts should be ensured so that immediate response is possible at any time. Emergency control rooms should be kept fully functional. In case of emergency, water supply should be ensured at all times.

He further said that advance arrangements should be made for uninterrupted supply of fuel for machinery. Social media and other means should be used effectively to inform the public in a timely manner.

Wasa Punjab DG clarified that no kind of negligence or delay will be tolerated, and all officers and staff should be alert at all times. Wasa Punjab is ready to serve the public in every possible way and is ready to deal with any unusual situation.
