Govt committed to promoting quality education: CM
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Wednesday said his government was committed to promoting quality education.“Our focus in the education sector is on quality rather than quantity, aiming to improve standards and prepare the youth to compete at the international level,” he told a gathering after launching the Student Life Cycle Management system at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar.
He said that digital transformation was no longer an option but a fundamental necessity, which is why his government is working to digitize all sectors. The chief minister said that through digitization and transparency, his government has achieved a surplus of 200 billion rupees. “When they assumed power, public universities were burdened with billions in unpaid dues, which they have significantly cleared. All outstanding pension liabilities of universities will be settled in the upcoming budget,” he added.
He further stated that universities were being empowered for financial self-sufficiency and should focus particularly on this goal by effectively utilizing their assets.Earlier, the chief minister formally launched the SAP-ERP-SLCM (Student Life Cycle Management) system. UET Peshawar has become the first university in the country to implement this system. Under this modern system, the university’s financial affairs, human resource management and payroll, procurement, supply chain management, and assets management have been fully digitized. Additionally, all student academic affairs - from admissions to graduation - including course registration, examinations, and fee management, have also been automated.
