MANSEHRA: Munir Hussain Lughmani, MPA of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and member of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, has said that a committee consisting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council members and lawmakers will be formed to propose legislation ensuring free education and healthcare services in the province.

“Although our country’s constitution guarantees equal rights, education, and healthcare services to every citizen without discrimination, this is not the case here. We are going to constitute a joint committee with members of the KP Bar Council and MPAs to legislate for this purpose,” he said while speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the District Bar Association here.

Lughmani earlier administered the oath to newly elected president Shahjehan Khan Swati, general secretary Qasim Khan Jehangiri, and other office-bearers.He said the proposed committee would also address gaps in the existing laws and amend them to give both men and women their due rights, empowering them to contribute to the country’s prosperity and development. “The legal fraternity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has the honour of finalising the Lawyers’ Protection Act, which their colleagues across the country endorsed,” Lughmani said.

He added that many schools in remote parts of the province were functioning without teachers, an issue the government should address urgently for the prosperity and development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Deputy Commissioner Khalid Iqbal, District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur, and District and Sessions Judge Sadia Ashraf also attended the ceremony.District Bar Association President Shahjehan Khan Swati said that the bench and bar must work together to ensure the dispensation of justice.
