KP govt initiates preparations for next ADP
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has initiated preparations for the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the upcoming fiscal year.
A handout said four separate meetings were held on Tuesday with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the chair to discuss the proposed projects of the Sports, Information, Relief, and Auqaf departments for inclusion in the ADP.
In attendance were relevant provincial cabinet members and other senior officials. The meetings included a detailed review of the progress on ongoing development projects within these departments.
The chief minister instructed officials to finalize the ADP on time, emphasizing the need for practical, need-based projects that can be completed within the stipulated time-frame.
He noted that delays in project completion lead to an increased financial burden on the public exchequer. Therefore, the upcoming development budget will prioritize the completion of ongoing projects. Gandapur directed that a significant portion of the budget be allocated to such projects, with full funding provided for those nearing completion.
He called for the elimination of duplication in development schemes across departments and advised against initiating identical projects under multiple departments. The chief minister instructed that land availability be ensured before launching any new projects.
He directed the Planning & Development Department to assess the feasibility and public utility of all proposed projects. The chief minister said that the ADP for the next fiscal year would be designed realistically, in line with the province’s financial capacity, and steps would be taken to minimize throw-forward liabilities.
