SUKKUR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) sit-in over the canals issue continued at the Rohri-Sukkur Interchange on Sunday, blocking the Sukkur-Multan Motorway.
JUI-F’s provincial ameer Maulana Abdul Qayyum Halejvi, Secretary General Maulana Rashid Mahmood Soomro and other party leaders, while addressing protesters, said that the Indus River would be saved at all costs.
They questioned what the PPP is celebrating for, and said they will celebrate after notification is issued. They said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should celebrate, but not before Council of Common Interests’ (CCI) decision on the canals issue, adding “the presidency lost Sindh’s case”. They said “the current rulers are products of Form 47, their decisions are unacceptable”. They further said, “We will not tolerate the construction of Cholistan Canal.” They also said if water is disrupted by India in violation of the Indus Waters Treaty, the situation will worsen.
