Customs clearing agents take up problems with Afghan minister

LANDIKOTAL: President of the All Torkham Border Customs Clearing Agents Association, President Mujeeb Shinwari, met with Afghan Minister for Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, at his office in Islamabad on Friday and discussed various issues related to cross-border trade and Customs clearance at the Torkham border.

He briefed the Afghan minister on the challenges faced by Customs clearing agents, traders and transporters at the Torkham crossing. He highlighted the delays and difficulties in vehicle clearance on the Pakistani and Afghan sides, which affected bilateral trade.

The discussion focused on finding practical solutions to streamline Customs clearance procedures and facilitate trade through the Torkham border. Both sides acknowledged the importance of the Torkham crossing as a vital trade route between Pakistan and Afghanistan and expressed their commitment to improving import-export activities.

Afghanistan’s minister, Nooruddin Azizi assured Mujeeb Shinwari that the Afghan government was taking the issues seriously and would implement practical measures to address the concerns raised.He stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation and dialogue in resolving trade-related problems and ensuring smooth operations at the border.
