Call to take notice of govt residences occupied by private individuals
JHANG: Applicants on Thursday urged the authorities concerned to take immediate notice of government residences which had been allegedly occupied by private individ als.
They highlighted that a significant number of government officers and officials from various departments who had been posted from other districts were still waiting for the allotment of official accommodation. This, they said, was affecting their performance due to housing issue. They pointed out that several government residences, including those constructed for consultants of the DHQ Hospital assigned emergency duties, were currently occupied by officers and officials who were posted in their hometowns despite these residences being reserved for out of district officers.
Moreover, many of the houses had reportedly been taken over by private individuals under fictitious or misleading names and irrelevant officials, they alleged.Sources pointed out that the Building Department was the custodian of official residences and was responsible for utilising public funds for their repair and maintenance. However, no one was taking notice about the use of these government assets by private individuals. The aggrieved applicants urged the authorities to verify the original allottees and current residents of government residences, including those of the DHQ Hospital colony.The News tried to contact Muhammad Kalim, Buildings XEN, for his version, but he was busy a meeting.
TRANSFERRED: The Punjab Health and Population Department has transferred Dr Gul Zahra, District Coordinator of the IRMNCH and Nutrition Programme, and posted her as Deputy District Officer Health, Tehsil Jhang.
According to a notification, Dr Gul, a Woman Medical Officer(BS-17), had been allowed to retain the additional charge of the post of District Coordinator, IRMNCH and NP.Moreover, Dr Muhammad Ahsan, Medical Officer(BS-17) at DHQ Hospital Jhang, had been transferred and posted as Medical Officer at THQ Hospital Athara Hazari.
DC DISSOLVES GYMKHANA CLUB’S BOGS, SUB-COMMITTEES: Gymkhana Club President/DC Ali Akbar has dissolved the existing Board of Governors and all sub-committees in light of the club’s upcoming annual elections.
According to official sources, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) has been appointed as the Returning Officer for the elections of the secretary and four other seats. Following the issuance of the final list of eligible members by the Returning Officer, campaign by the candidates has intensified.
Sources in the DC’s Office revealed that the names of Muhammad Umar Khan, Dr Moazzam Sheikh and Muhammad Ali Shah Advocate were initially proposed for the post of secretary. Similarly, proposed candidates for the Board of Governors include former president of the Jhang Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yaqoob Sheikh, Farooq Ahmed, Shakeel Chishti, Khurram Ijaz, Malik Azhar, Dr Amjad Hussain, Usman Sheikh, Mallah Khan and others.
