Trader injured in Charsadda firing
CHARSADDA: A known trader and brother of a journalist was seriously injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on him in Shabqadar here on Thursday, police officials said.
They said the victim, Gulab Shah, who is the brother of senior journalist Abid Shah, was shopping in a local market when he was targeted by the attackers. The assailants managed to flee the scene immediately after the attack.
According to police sources, Gulab Shah sustained serious injuries in the attack and was initially shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, they said, he was later referred to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar for further treatment.
Police have registered a case against unidentified attackers and have launched an investigation to trace and arrest the culprits. The incident has sparked concern among the local journalist and trader communities. Both groups have strongly condemned the attack and called on the Charsadda police to take swift action to apprehend those responsible.
