Defamation case of Ishaq Dar
ISLAMABAD: While hearing a defamation case on Wednesday, filed by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Additional and Sessions Judge Islamabad High Court (IHC) Abida Sajjad summoned CEO Salman Iqbal, anchor Arshad Sharif and journalist Assad Kharal of ARY channel on June 29.
Barrister Munawar Iqbal Gul represented Ishaq Dar in the court. While submitting papers to represent Arshad Sharif and Assad Kharral, the lawyer of private news channel Shoaib Razzaq pleaded the court to give time to submit papers to also represent Salman Iqbal and to prepare reply on behalf of them in the case. The court adjourned hearing and ordered all of them to submit reply on next hearing on June 29. It may be mentioned that Ishaq Dar had filed defamation case of Rs1 billion as damages against CEO Salman Iqbal, anchor Arshad Sharif and journalist Assad Kharal on broadcasting fake news of his meeting with the finance minister of Panama on their channel.
