ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday ordered a vigorous crackdown on the nefarious human trafficking networks operating across the country as well as curtailing spread of cybercrimes.

He issued these directives during his meeting with the newly appointed Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Riffat Mukhtar Raja, and newly inducted DG National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Waqaruddin Syed.

According to a spokesman of the interior ministry, in a resolute move to safeguard national security and protect vulnerable populations, Naqvi has mandated DG FIA to architect a comprehensive and unyielding strategy against the burgeoning issue of illegal immigration. Simultaneously, he issued unequivocal directives to DG NCCIA to curtail the insidious spread of cybercrimes, signaling a zero-tolerance policy against digital transgressions.

With a stern resolve, the interior minister ordered a vigorous crackdown on the nefarious human trafficking mafia operating across the nation. Emphasising the necessity for indiscriminate action across all four provinces, he articulated that the perpetrators of this abhorrent trade must be confronted with the full force of the law.

He underscored the grave peril these criminals pose, highlighting their callous disregard for human life and their willingness to endanger innocent souls for personal gains. “This concerted effort reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating these pernicious elements from society and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.”

He also gave directives to the DG NCCIA for curbing cybercrimes. “Cyber security is a new challenge, and the capacity of NCCIA will be enhanced. Officers will be sent abroad for specialised training,” Naqvi said.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry added that human traffickers did not deserve any leniency.
