LAHORE: In a groundbreaking initiative for athletes, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial has announced scholarships for 62 athletes under the Rs 2 billion Sports Endowment Fund.
Additionally, top-performing athletes in the upcoming 35th National Games will also benefit from this revolutionary fund. The announcement came during a meeting held at Punjab Stadium on Tuesday. The meeting, chaired by Secretary Sports, was attended by key officials including Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry, Additional Secretary Mian Usman Ali.
Highlighting the details, Muzaffar Sial explained that the scholarships are being awarded in three categories—platinum, gold, and silver—for a one-year duration. “Athletes in the platinum category will receive Rs 70,000 per month, while those in the gold category will be awarded Rs 50,000, and silver category recipients will get Rs 30,000 monthly,” he shared.
He emphasised the purpose of the fund, stating, “The Rs 2 billion Sports Endowment Fund has been established to ensure the welfare and development of our athletes. The development of players is the top priority for the Punjab Sports Department.”
