Pakistan off to winning start in JDC

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan kicked off Junior Davis Cup (JDC) campaign in Kuching (Malaysia) in dominant style beating Iraq 3-0 in the opening match Tuesday.
In the first singles match, Abubakar Talha displayed an outstanding performance, defeating Dahin Awla 6-1, 6-0 while in the second singles, Mikaeel Ali Baig continued Pakistan’s dominance, securing a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Faisal Shammama.
The doubles match saw Hamza Roman and Abubakar Talha overpowering Iraq’s pair of Dahin Awla and Faisal Shammama with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win. With this victory, Pakistan lead Group C, where they have been placed alongside Turkmenistan and Iraq. The tournament features seven groups. Pakistan will face Turkmenistan today (Wednesday).
