BATTAGRAM: The employees of the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) here on Tuesday staged a protest against the non-payment of salaries for the last several months.

The protesters marched from the TMA office to the deputy commissioner’s office, demanding the release of their pending salaries. The protesters chanted slogans against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. They criticized the government’s “flawed” policies, which stalled development projects for years.

The protesters pointed out that even funds for schemes completed years ago remain unpaid, and now the situation has worsened to the extent that employees were not getting salaries.Speaking at the protest, Bashir Khan, a TMA staff member, said: “We have been working, but have not received our salaries. Our children are suffering, our households have run out of necessities, and now with Ramazan approaching, we don’t know how we will survive.” Other protesting employees also voiced similar grievances.

A sanitation worker, said, “It has become impossible to feed our families. How can the government expect us to continue working without pay? We are drowning in debt, and many of us are being forced to take loans.”
