Workers Welfare Board approves regularisation of contractual employees
PESHAWAR: The members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Workers Welfare Board (WWB) have approved the regularisation of the board’s contract employees.
The board members also instructed the authorities concerned to examine those contract employees who do not meet the eligibility criteria for employment, if they fulfill the job criteria, they should also be included in the list of regular employees.
The approval for the regularisation of contract employees was granted during a meeting of the WWB chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour, Fazal Shakoor Khan, on Thursday. The meeting was attended by WWB Chairman Mian Adil Iqbal, Secretary Muhammad Tufail, along with board members, the Additional Advocate General, and other concerned officers. Various issues related to the board were discussed during the meeting, and the members also presented their opinions and suggestions, said a handout.
During the meeting, the members approved the immediate eviction of the WWB bungalow located on Shami Road, Peshawar. They also decided to terminate the current lease of the bungalow and issued instructions for the full recovery of the lease amount. The meeting also discussed the establishment of the board’s own Information Technology wing to bring reforms and improvements.
Furthermore, a detailed discussion was held regarding employees’ house rent, and consideration was given to ease the restrictions for filling vacant positions within the board. Provincial Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan, while addressing the board members, said that reforms are essential for improving the WWB. He also said that the revenue generated from shops in labor colonies has been increased through recent auctions, and the revenue would be used to improve facilities in the colonies and for the welfare of workers’ children.
