Special persons threaten protest if demands not met

KALAYA: The special persons on Tuesday announced that they would stage a protest sit-in outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to press the provincial government for acceptance of their demands on February 17.

“The Khyber Pakhtun- khwa government is not giving due rights to the physically challenged persons while the special persons in other provinces are enjoying numerous facilities,” said Naik Badshah, the president of Special Persons Association, during a press conference here.

Special persons Abdul Basit, Rohaibullah and others were also present.Naik Badshah and others complained that there were no facilities for disabled persons to receive education in the merged districts and remote areas of the province.

In Punjab, he said special persons were being given monthly stipends through disability cards and they were treated with respect.They said that they had been advocating for the rights of special persons for the last six years, but the provincial government had not yet provided any support or facilities to them.

The speakers pledged to raise their voice for the rights of special persons on every platform.They demanded the government to increase the quota of jobs for the special persons, issue disability cards like Punjab, grant monthly stipends for female special persons and take steps for imparting technical education to the differently abled persons in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
