Fazl holds PMLN, PPP responsible for public woes

BATKHELA/TAKHT BHAI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday criticized the government for what he said was its poor performance and failed policies.

Speaking to the media in Sakhakot, he said law and order had worsened and the people were dissatisfied with the performance of the government.

He said that rampant corruption and poverty had compounded the woes of the commoners.

The JUIF chief said that the coalition government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had failed to deliver on pledges. He said that the people were fed up with the government which did not give any relief to the people in the face of soaring price-hike. He accused both parties of continuously blackmailing each other, while hidden forces remained in control from behind the scenes.

“After the 2018 general election, we had hoped that the 2024 polls would be free and fair. However, the public’s will and the supremacy of the Constitution were crushed to install a controversial parliament. This is why the country is on the verge of destruction,” he asserted.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman further criticized the worsening law and order situation, emphasizing that citizens no longer felt secure. He also lamented the growing culture of corruption and looting across the country.

Meanwhile, speaking at the annual dastarbandi and certificate distribution ceremony at Darul Uloom Islamia Arabia in Shergarh, Maulana Fazlur Rehman claimed that efforts to suppress madrassas were part of a larger conspiracy. He accused the “fraudulent parliament” of attempting to weaken religious seminaries at the behest of the US and its allies.

The Maulana asserted that despite having only eight members in Parliament, JUIF successfully thwarted all such conspiracies and ensured that the parliament recognized their strength by passing a bill that, according to him, dismantled the agenda of anti-state elements and their foreign supporters.

He reaffirmed JUIF’s commitment to blocking any legislation against Shariah, stating that even if his party had only one member in Parliament, they would prevent anti-Islamic laws from being passed.

The Maulana emphasized that currently, over 650,000 students were enrolled in Wifaq-ul-Madaris-affiliated institutions, and as long as JUIF had representation in Parliament, no force could pass a bill against religious seminaries. He also highlighted the significant role of Darul Uloom Islamia Arabia Shergarh, established by the late Maulana Muhammad Ahmad, in educating thousands of students who are now spreading Islamic teachings globally.
