SNGPL lose to Higher Education in President’s Trophy match

KARACHI: Higher Education defeated defending champions SNGPL by 160 runs in the sixth round of the President’s Trophy Grade-1 Championship.

It was SNGPL’s fifth defeat out of six matches they played in the tournament. The highlight of the third day’s play was the centuries by KRL’s Rohail Nazir and Wapda’s Muhammad Arif while WAPDA’s Khalid Usman took 9 wickets in the match.

Wapda were given a target of 354 runs to win against PTV at the Rashid Latif Academy Ground. At the end of the game, they had 180 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Muhammad Arif was not out after scoring 101 runs.

Earlier, PTV were bowled out for 112 runs in the second innings. Shamil Hussain was the top scorer with 47 runs. Naqeebullah took 5-30. At the UBL Sports Complex, SNGPL were given a target of 359 runs to win against Higher Education, but the entire team was bowled out for 198 runs.

Hasibullah Khan scored 52 and Saifullah Bangash scored 49 not out. Earlier, Higher Education scored 291 for the loss of 9 wickets. KRL were bowled out for 499 runs in their first innings against Ghani Glass at KCCA Stadium.

Rohail Nazir scored 134 runs while Shahid Aziz managed to score 85. Ghani Glass scored 127 runs for 2 wickets in the second innings. At State Bank Stadium, Eshaal Associates team were bowled out for 275 runs in reply to State Bank’s 415 runs. Mohammad Ismail took 5-93. State Bank declared their second innings at 221-3. Chasing a target of 362, Eshaal Associates scored 20 runs in the second innings and lost 2 wickets.
