LAHORE:Former Governor of Punjab and President of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) South Punjab, Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood, stated that the issue of the alliance with PMLN will not be resolved as long as it remains a matter of give-and-take.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony as the chief guest at the People's Secretariat in Model Town here on Monday. The event was organised by Chairman Bhutto Legacy Foundation, Bashir Riaz, to celebrate the 32nd birthday of First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari. The event was hosted by senior leader Faisal Mir. Addressing the event, Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood said it was an honour for him to participate in the First Lady’s birthday celebration. Bhutto family's contributions to Pakistan’s politics can never be forgotten, he said and praised Aseefa Bhutto for her simplicity and humility. He further stated that showing respect is a tradition and virtue of noble families, and Aseefa Bhutto reflects her mother’s legacy.
He prayed for her bright future. Responding to media questions, Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood said that it is the duty of the governor and president to sign bills passed by the assembly. President Asif Ali Zardari fulfilled his duty by signing the PECA Act. The former governor emphasised the need to solve problems collectively.
