JPMC’s gynaecology ward beautified to provide pleasant environment to staff

The Amateur Gardeners Club has transformed the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre’s gynaecology ward through plantation, creating a tranquil and refreshing space for the hospital staff.

A special ceremony was held on Friday morning to mark the initiative. The project aims to enhance the hospital’s environment by providing a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere for the ward’s staff. Additionally, it seeks to inspire other social organisations to participate in similar welfare projects.

According to the organisers, the effort is a step towards an eco-friendly future, bringing freshness, tranquility and a positive change to the hospital’s high-pressure environment. The Amateur Gardeners Club is among the few active gardening clubs in Karachi that was founded in 1986 by horticulturist Khilat Kafeel. Since its foundation, the club has had over 200 members and held various activities.

The purpose of the club is to impart knowledge on growing and caring of plants and gardens. The club is affiliated with the Horticultural Society of Pakistan. “Despite its standing, regular teaching programmes and community projects, our club has the humble name of Amateur because teaching and learning never ends,” said Kafeel.

He added that the initiatives of the club became possible because of its wonderful team. “We are happy and proud to have had this opportunity to landscape this area for a non-profit hospital and hope it will provide a green sanctuary for the inhabitants around it.”
