PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Tuesday criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for compromising on the rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He was speaking at a meeting of the provincial office-bearers of the party at Watan Kor in Peshawar. The meeting reviewed the arrangements being made for the gathering to mark the death anniversary of Shaheed Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao.

Sikandar Sherpao said that though the PTI had been ruling the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the third straight term, it had done nothing to secure the rights of the province. The QWP leaders said that the government employees were compelled to stage protests for the release of salaries. He said the PTI had pushed the province to the brink of bankruptcy due to its flawed policies.

He said that though it was the right of the PTI to stage protests, it must not neglect the wellbeing of the common people of KP. He said the PTI government was least bothered to mitigate the sufferings of the have-nots. He said that the people were grappling with soaring prices of daily use commodities.

He said the provincial government was responsible for the worsening law and order in the province particularly in the Kurram tribal district, where the roads had been closed for the last over two months.

He said the PTI leadership had withdrawn from its so-called absolutely not mantra and the party had now attached expectations to the Trump administration. Shedding light on his party’s welfare agenda, Sikandar Sherpao said that the QWP would spare no effort to secure the rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the QWP was committed to upholding the Constitution and the rule of law. He said his party was striving to ensure provincial autonomy and help overcome the challenges being faced by the country.
