LCCI, Lahore DC join hands to tackle parking, security issues
LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and the deputy commissioner’s office have agreed to take joint measures to resolve the pressing issues faced by the city’s business community. The consensus was reached during a visit by Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza to the LCCI headquarters.
The deputy commissioner was briefed on various challenges, and he assured the business community of his support in addressing these concerns promptly and fairly. Key issues discussed included persistent parking problems in city markets such as Hall Road, Brandreth Road, Akbari Mandi, Mall Road, Circular Road and Ichhra. The LCCI urged the government to prioritise the construction of parking plazas in these areas, with a preference for private sector involvement.
Fire safety in Lahore’s markets was highlighted as a critical concern, with LCCI representatives citing recent fire incidents that caused significant losses to businesses. They called for the installation of water hydrants in high-risk areas and improvements in fire safety infrastructure.
Security in industrial estates and commercial areas was also emphasised. The LCCI called for increased law enforcement and the installation of Safe City cameras in areas lacking surveillance to ensure the safety of businesses.
The business community appreciated the deputy commissioner’s efforts to remove encroachments and improve market accessibility, describing these initiatives as crucial for smooth business operations. They also requested private sector representation in administrative committees to strengthen decision-making processes.
Both parties agreed to enhance collaboration to address these challenges effectively and support the growth of Lahore’s business community.
