Pakistan aims to set over 300 target for WI to chase
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan are looking forward to setting a winning target for over 300 for West Indies to chase on a spinning Multan Stadium surface with ace bowler Sajid Khan confident of adding at least five more scalps to his first innings show.
In a post-second-day media talk Saturday, Sajid said his team was looking forward to setting anything over 300 for West Indies to chase on the third and fourth day.
“We hope to set a decent total-anything over 300 runs for West Indies to chase. Look we have done enough so far and have full control of the proceedings. We need to pressurize the opposition further to get favourable results.”
Sajid hoped to get another five-wicket haul in the second. “I am looking for at least five more wickets in the second innings to win the match for the country. West Indies is a team that believes in playing attacking cricket. If they start playing attacking cricket in the second innings we will change our strategy accordingly. If they start playing slow cricket we will make the required adjustment.”
On his four-wicket haul in the first innings, he said he could have added a few more. “Once I removed the top four wickets I was in a position to add a few more which I could not.”
Sajid praised Saud Shakil and Mohammad Rizwan for taking Pakistan’s total to over 200. “They brought us back in the match. Hopefully, we will keep a tight check in the days to come.”
On his plans for white-ball cricket, Sajid said he wanted to be an all-format player. “I love to be part of the white-ball team. I also want to play in international leagues. But due to one reason or the other, I could not become part of the league. Hopefully, I would be in a position to start playing white-ball cricket at the international level at the earliest.
Whenever I will get a chance I will try to make my best efforts as I have done in Test cricket.”
