PTI continues protest during question hour and NA speaker ignores it and continues session despite noisy atmosphere
ISLAMABAD: The question hour in the National Assembly (NA) continued to be hit by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest on Friday also, with raising of slogans and pointing out of the quorum.
Later, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq adjourned the house till Monday evening.
As the NA sitting started on Friday, the PTI-backed opposition sought point of order to speak, but the speaker did not allow, saying it was already agreed in the House Business Committee that no point of orders would not be allowed during the question hour, and he would give the floor after completion of business of the day.
The PTI continued its protest during the question hour and the NA speaker ignored it and continued the session despite a noisy atmosphere.
In the middle of the question hour, PTI legislator Iqbal Afridi pointed out the quorum and the speaker, instead of ordering for counting, adjourned the house till Monday evening.
In the meanwhile, during the question hour, Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change Ahmad Atteeq Anwer told the House that a national flagship initiative, Up-scaling of Green Pakistan Programme is under implementation with a target of planting 3.29 billion trees by 2028.
He said plantation and distribution of 2.2 billion plants across the country has been achieved since 2019.
He said under the programme, nationwide plantation campaigns are organised every year during spring and monsoon. The parliamentary secretary said the government was considering establishing a new climate finance governance framework to streamline processes and improve access to climate finance.
