Officials say Wapda-related issues to be resolved
MANSEHRA: Deputy Commissioner, Upper Kohistan, Tariq Ali Khan said on Thursday that the residents’ issues with the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) would be addressed on a priority basis.
“Wapda has agreed to establish its offices in our district to ensure the prompt resolution of issues such as exorbitant electricity bills, transformer repairs and other concerns,” he said while speaking at a meeting attended by Wapda officials and local residents at the DC office.
People from various parts of the district attended the meeting and raised complaints about inflated utility bills, prolonged electricity outages due to faulty transformers and outdated transmission lines.
“I have summoned Wapda officials to ensure a direct meeting with you (locals), where you can discuss your issues and their resolution,” Khan said.He added that Wapda would prioritise addressing low voltage, faulty transformers, old transmission lines, and inflated bills issues until its office was established in the district.
“Wapda will soon begin the construction of its offices here to provide better services to commercial and domestic consumers,” Khan said.The deputy commissioner said that Kohistan holds great potential for the government and the execution of Dasu Hydropower Project and Diamer-Bhasha Dam was well underway“These projects will help address the country’s electricity shortfall once completed,” he added.
