Angoor Adda gate likely to reopen
WANA: The Pak-Afghan border at Angoor Adda crossing is set to reopen for trade after 15 months of closure, marking a significant milestone for the region’s struggling economy. The announcement, made by the Ahmadzai Wazir tribe and the organisers of an ongoing sit-in, aims to restore commercial activities between Pakistan and Afghanistan, offering a lifeline to local traders and businesses.
While the decision has been welcomed by various quarters, the sit-in against visa and passport regulations remains in place.
The protesters argue that the imposed requirements disproportionately affect tribes residing on both sides of the border, disrupting their lives and hindering long-standing cross-border connections.
“We will not end our protest until these unjust restrictions are lifted,” declared one of the protestrs, emphasizing the hardships faced by tribal communities.
