Separately, between January 13 and 14, Karachi airport authorities stopped 70 passengers from boarding international flights due to various reasons, including documentation issues, insufficient funds, and blacklisting.
Nine passengers travelling to Azerbaijan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia were offloaded due to incomplete work visa documentation. A passenger travelling to Norway was also stopped in similar circumstances. Nineteen Umrah pilgrims were offloaded for not having advance hotel bookings or adequate funds for expenses. Six passengers with visit visas to Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Kenya, and Malaysia were offloaded, and a traveller to Oman was barred for not having an advance hotel booking.
Meanwhile, a student heading to Kazakhstan on a study visa was stopped. Three individuals travelling for work to Yemen and other countries were also prevented from boarding. Five Saudi Arabia-bound passengers were barred due to being blacklisted.
Also, a government schoolteacher travelling on a work visa was stopped for lacking an NOC. Four travellers with tourist or visit visas for the UAE, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso were also offloaded due to lack of required documentation such as NOCs, hotel bookings, or sufficient funds, missing travel permits (as in the case of the Indian national), and blacklisting or unresolved legal statuses.
The incidents highlight the increasing scrutiny of international travellers and underscore the importance of fulfilling all travel requirements before departure.
