Man convicted in murder case
PESHAWAR: Additional District and Sessions Judge Mirza Muhammad Kashif on Monday sentenced a man to a total of 32 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs1.2 million on him for murdering a taxi driver.
According to the prosecution, the convict, Shoaib, along with three women accomplices booked a taxi from Charsadda Adda in Peshawar under false pretenses and later murdered the driver, Latifur Rehman. Assistant Public Prosecutor Shehzad Ahmed led the prosecution team.
They told the court that 18 days after the incident, the stolen car was intercepted at Charsadda Road, where the driver’s body was discovered inside the vehicle. The Khazana Police had registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s brother. The three women accomplices were released on bail while Shoaib faced trial. After examining the evidence, the court convicted Shoaib of murder under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
