NOWSHERA: Armed robbers shot dead a fruit seller near Banda Nabi on Jalozai Road in Nowshera district on Sunday.
Jahangir, a resident of Shabra, told the police that he along with his brother Jan Muhammad and nephew Asim Khan was coming back home on a motorcycle after selling fruits at the Pabbi Bazaar.
He said that upon reaching Banda Nabi on Jalozai Road near Malang Sher Bahadur’s guesthouse, the armed robbers stopped them at gunpoint and started looting them
The complainant said that the robbers first snatched a mobile phone from his nephew, Asim and then turned to his brother Jan Muhammad, who put up resistance.
Upon this, the robbers opened fire on Jan Muhammad and killed him on the spot.
Later, the family members of the victim and general public blocked the Grand Trunk Road in protest when the Pabbi and Jalozai police stations refused to register their first information report.
Upon blockade of the road, the police contingents rushed to the spot and after successful negotiations with the victim’s family, the police registered the FIR after a delay of 15 hours.
The victim’s family has appealed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and Inspector General of Police to provide them justice and take steps to curb the rising incidents of robberies and killings in Nowshera.
