Kate Lappin supports workers’ demands
LAHORE:A meeting of office-bearers and members of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union (CBA) was held here Thursday at Bakhtiar Labour Hall.
The meeting chaired by the Union president Abdul Latif Nizamani welcomed Kate Lappin, Regional Secretary Asia Pacific Public Services International (PSI), as Chief Guest. General Secretary of the Union Khurshid Ahmad demanded the government intervene and get stopped the fatal accidents of electricity line staff occurring every now and then on account of shortage of staff while no recruitment had been carried out since last more than seven years. He also demanded provision of safety to the line staff and elimination of unemployment, poverty. It is need of the hour that the workers’ basic rights be guaranteed under Constitution of Pakistan. Kate Lappin stated that it is need of the hour that basic rights of the workers are being fully protected by the government.
