RCB presents Rs2.346 billion budget

Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) annual budget for fiscal 2016-17 worth Rs2.346 billion was presented before the elected and nominated members on Friday.

The RCB officials presented the budget proposals to RCB President and Station Commander Brigadier Hassan Raza. RCB Vice President Raja Jehandad Khan, RCB Cantonment Executive Officer Dr. Saima Shah, elected members and other senior officials were present on the occasion.

As per the details of budget, the total outlay of the budget is Rs2.346 billion and this year, Rs131.178 million was set aside for the uplift schemes including sewerage, roads, water supply and others.

The civic agency estimated the total outlay at Rs2.346 billion. The total receipts are expected to stand at Rs2.246 billion and opening balance at Rs100 million.

According to budget plan, the civic agency will generate Rs1.296 billion from taxes including property tax on commercial and residential properties and fees on building plans and other services. Rs588 million will be earned from contracts of parking, bus stands and public toilets, Rs70 million from hoarding charges, Rs135 million from base transceiver station towers fees and others.

“Elected members did not raise any objection over the budget as they agreed to send it to Military Lands and Cantonments for final approval as no new tax has been levied on the residents,” said RCB Vice President Raja Jehandad Khan while talking to newsmen.
