‘Shifting’ of equipment from varsity protested
MINGORA: A group of young residents from Kabal along with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and local elders intervened to halt the transfer of valuable equipment from Swat Engineering University in Kanju Township.
The university’s property, including computer monitors, chairs, tables, sofas, and other items, was being loaded to be transported to Peshawar when locals stepped in to prevent its shifting.According to sources, staff from the Higher Education Department and the Secretariat in Peshawar had arrived to gather and transport the items, stating they were being relocated. However, PTI supporters and other residents asserted that the equipment belonged to Swat and should remain within the local university.
The residents voiced concern over the development and said the university’s resources should benefit Swat and not be moved elsewhere.Meanwhile, Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi said that the equipment was being shifted after completion of a project in the university. He rejected the claims that the Swat Engineering University was being shut down.
