Faisalabad crush Hyderabad: Asher, Azan shine for Sialkot
LAHORE: Faisalabad defeated Hyderabad by an innings and 8 runs on the second day of the third round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy cricket tournament on Friday.
Young Sialkot batsman Azan Owais scored his first first-class century in the match against Dera Murad Jamali and formed a triple century partnership for the first wicket with Asher Mehmood.
In response to Hyderabad’s 96 runs, Faisalabad scored 230 all out in the first innings at the Diamond Cricket Ground Islamabad. Bilawal Bhatti took 5 wickets for 55 runs. Hyderabad scored only 126 runs in the second innings. Shahid Ali and Asad Raza took four wickets each.
At the Rana Naveed Academy, Sheikhupura, Sialkot scored 370 runs for 5 wickets against Dera Murad Jamali as a result of Asher Mahmood and Azan Owais’ brilliant opening partnership of 312 runs.
Asher Mahmood scored 172 runs. Azan Owais scored his first first-class century in his third first-class match scoring 130 runs. In the previous two matches he had played innings of 51 and 78.
Karachi Whites were bowled out for 145 runs in their first innings against Rawalpindi at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi. Ramiz Aziz scored 59 runs. Muhammad Faizan took 5 wickets for 39 runs.
Rawalpindi had scored 169 runs for 9 wickets in the first innings by the end of the day’s play. Shadab Khan scored 46 runs. Saqib Khan took four wickets. At the National Ground, Islamabad, Abbottabad were bowled out for 231 runs in response to Larkana’s 63 runs. Khayyam Khan scored 46 runs. Mushtaq Kalhoro took 5 wickets for 70 runs.
Larkana scored 130 runs for 5 wickets in the second innings. At Ashfaq Ground, Charsadda, Peshawar were bowled out for 213 runs in the first innings in response to Azad Jammu Kashmir’s 171 runs. Israrullah scored 62 runs. Faizan Saleem took 5 wickets with 50 runs.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir scored 100 runs for one wicket in the second innings. Hasan Raza is not out on 62 runs. At Saeed Sports City Lahore, Lahore Blues were bowled out for 150 runs against Quetta’s 101 runs. Gohar Faiz took 4 wickets for 49 runs.
Lahore Whites were bowled out for 214 runs against Islamabad’s 167 runs at Murghazar Cricket Ground Islamabad. Obaid Shahid was the top scorer with 43 runs. Kaleem Dil took 5 wickets for 60 runs.
Islamabad scored 129 runs for 8 wickets in the second innings. Ahmed Daniyal took four wickets. The second day’s play of the match between Karachi Blues and FATA at Multan Cricket Stadium Multan was not possible due to bad light. On the first day, Karachi Blues scored 221 runs for 5 wickets. Abdullah Fazal was not out for 96 runs.
Bahawalpur were bowled out for 297 runs in the first innings against Multan at Abbottabad Stadium, Abbottabad. Wasim Akram took 4 wickets for 64 runs. Multan were bowled out for 147 runs in the first innings. Shoaib Manzoor and Mehran Sanul took four wickets each. Bahawalpur were 0 without losing any wicket in the second innings.
