Arms seized, ‘gunrunner’ held in Kohat

KOHAT: The police claimed to have seized arms and arrested the alleged smuggler on Indus Highway on Thursday.District Police Officer (DPO) Umar Khan said that the police had foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of weapons.
He said that Station House Officer (SHO) Mir Afzal of Muhammad Riaz Shaheed Police Station along with police party in an action on the Indus Highway recovered a cache of weapons from a passenger coach and arrested an inter-district arms smuggler Wali Khan, a resident of Sadda, Kurram tribal district.
The seized weapons, he added, include one heavy machine-gun, one Kalashnikov, three rifles, one pistol and 550 rounds of ammunition.The arms and ammunition were hidden in secret cavities of the coach.
