Sindh Assembly opposition leader and Muttahida Qaumi Movement lawmaker Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan on Wednesday paid a visit the NED University of Engineering and Technology, and University of Karachi.
During his visit, he held meetings with vice chancellors and other officials of the both the institutions. He expressed that both the government-run universities were in a dire need of attention from the authorities.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah should realise that the poor governance of the provincial government had damaged the education sector, he said.
The MQM leader said the KU vice chancellor had told him that the University of Karachi was running out of funds and the university officials were compelled to increase the fee for students to manage the expenses of the varsity.
Even the transport department of the university was working in a loss, while it did not have sufficient funds for the salaries of the employees, he further.
