Pakistan to host two Commonwealth handball events
KARACHI: The Commonwealth Handball Association (CHA) has awarded two big international events to Pakistan, The News has learnt on Thursday.
Pakistan Handball Federation (PHF) will organise the 1st Commonwealth Men Senior Beach Handball Championship and 1st Commonwealth Universities Women’s Handball Championship next year.
The Men’s Championship will likely be held in Karachi. The dates of the event will be announced later. The CHA has sent invitations forms to the president, general secretaries of all member federations of Commonwealth countries with the directives of confirming their participation in the event by November 15, 2024.
Each team will have 10 players accompanied by head of delegation, coach, assistant coach, and manager/ physiotherapist. The 1st Commonwealth Universities Women’s Handball Championship will likely be held in April 2025 in Faisalabad.
According to the CHA communique, the purpose of this 1st Commonwealth University Women’s Handball championship is to foster unity, sportsmanship, and strengthen camaraderie among member nations.
The participation requirement for the Commonwealth countries universities will be that their teams must be affiliated with their national university sports federation, players must be currently enrolled students or recently graduated within 1 year. Teams must provide proof of university affiliation and players eligibility.
