120 arrested in Nowshera search
NOWSHERA: The security forces and police arrested 120 suspected persons during a search and strike operation in various areas of the district, official said on Sunday.District Police Officer (DPO) Wahid Mehmood said that 120 suspected persons were arrested in Azakhel, Ashoorabad, Karimi Town, Khan Sher Garhi and Pashtun Garhi.
He said that the operation was launched after the inquiry report sent by army to the cantonment authorities and provincial government about the Afghan nationals holding Pakistani and Indian passports. The police had received several complaints that Afghan nationals had obtained Pakistan identity cards and passports and had got themselves registered in voter lists, he added.
The army investigation report had mentioned 900 Afghans who had secured Pakistan’s national cards through illegal means. The DPO said that an inquiry had been initiated about the Afghan nationals who had purchased property in the district.
