It is a well-known fact that people often do not get all the petrol that they pay for at the pump due to the widespread practice of petrol theft. Sometimes, quarrels take place among employees of petrol pumps and motorists, as the former are caught stealing. But this happens only rarely as motorists are often in a hurry and too preoccupied to notice that they are being cheated.
Reforms and changes must be made to curb this problem. People should be allowed to fill their cars or bikes by themselves, as is the case in many other countries. The sooner we adopt this mechanism or policy the faster we get rid of petrol theft.
