LAHORE:A robber was killed by the crossfire of his own gang members during an encounter with the Organised Crime Unit in the Civil Lines area on Monday.
Police sources revealed that shooter and robber Imran Sabir, who was under physical remand, was being transported by a police team from the Gujjarpura precinct for the arrest of his accomplices and recovery of weapons. However, as they moved through the area, Sabir’s associates launched an attack on the police convoy in a bid to free him.
In the ensuing chaos, Sabir was critically injured by the indiscriminate firing of his own gang. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he died en route. The police officers remained unharmed. Imran Sabir had a notorious criminal record, with multiple charges of murder, attempted murder, and robbery against him.
Meanwhile, a wounded robber was arrested after a police encounter near Kahna on Monday.The patrolling officers from the Sue-e-Asal police post responded after receiving a 15 emergency call.According to Sue-e-Asal check post Incharge, the robbers opened the fire as they spotted the police team. In the exchange of gunfire, one of the robbers, identified as Imtiaz, was injured by a shot fired by his own accomplice.
He was shifted to a hospital. The two robbers had earlier fled after robbing a citizen named Ahmed near Budduki village. Police recovered a pistol and the stolen motorcycle from Imtiaz’s possession. A case was registered against the robbers.
