Over 170 items’ prices at utility stores cut

ISLAMABAD: After reducing prices of 800 items, the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has made more than 170 items cheaper by Rs190. A notification has been issued to reduce the prices of tea, various spices and other essential items.
The federal government had removed subsidy on five basic items under the Prime Minister’s Relief Package through the Utility Stores Corporation last month. After the removal of subsidy, the USC reduced its discount on more than 800 items. Now, 170 items are available at the Utility Stores with price reduced by Rs10 to Rs190. The spokesperson of USC said there was no condition for purchasing at all at the Utility Stores across the country. The federal government is considering two options of privatisation or liquidation of Utility Stores Corporation.
